NERI support programme yielding fruit in Yobe -Gov. Gaidam

Yobe state governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam, has commended the North East Regional Initiative, NERI for support and assistance rendered to the state in different sectors of the economy, especially in areas of health, education, water supply, assistance to IDPs among others.
Represented by his deputy, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, the governor made the appeal yesterday when the Chief of Party of the organization, Mr. Shareef Khatiu, led a delegation of members of the organization on a courtesy visit to the governor at Government House, Damaturu, the state capital.
He stated that NERI’s four- year support programme in partnership with the state in addressing developmental challenges has yielded meaningful result in the area of reducing conditions that allow violent extremism to flourish in the state in particular and the northeast region in general.
He, however, appealed to the organization to seek more ways of assisting the state in the present challenges it is facing in the area of addressing the humanitarian situation, particularly issues relating to resettlement, rehabilitation and reconstruction of the affected areas.
