The new Director of Fire Service in Ogun, Mr. Akanbi Obiwunmi has advised the people of the state to avoid activities that would lead to fire outbreak, especially during the Harmattan.

Obiwunmi gave the advice while addressing journalists at the State Fire Service headquarters at Onikoko, Abeokuta.

He, however, gave an assurance that the state government was putting in place necessary measures to curb outbreak of fire.

Obiwunmi said all measures would be put in place to boost the performance of the organisation in serving the public.

The director promised to embark on training and re-training of staff as well as creation of more awareness on causes and prevention of fire outbreaks.

He expressed optimism that his vision for the fire service would be realised with the support of the state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure and the ministry’s Permanent Secretary.

Obiwunmi urged the staff to cooperate with him to enable the organisation reduce fire incidents to the barest minimum.

The director advised victims of fire incidents to report outbreaks to the nearest fire station on time for prompt response. (NAN)
