The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced through its president Amaju Pinnick that the Super Eagles will be playing a number of international friendly matches during the FIFA free windows of 2015 first of which would be the game against Bosnia.
Speaking after the final of the Federation Cup last Sunday, President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick, said that it was time to get past the failure to qualify for AFCON. The NFF boss added that the Bosnia game will just be one of the games to help to that.
“Yes, AFCON 2015 qualifiers have come and gone without us as defending champion qualifying to defend the trophy. We can no longer continue to dwell on this failure now but move on into productive things,” he said.
“We have concluded plans for the Bosnia match same way I can also confirm to you that we are going to play Brazil on March 25, 2015 at the new Akwa Ibom Stadium in Uyo,” continued Pinnick.
Pinnick further went on to say that from now on 60 percent of Super Eagles matches would be played in Nigeria. Previously most of the matches are usually played in London.
“Our board has decided that more than 60 per cent of our international friendly would be played in Nigeria. Not just against any country but Grade ‘A’ football nations. That is the only way other countries will accept our requests, especially if we win most of the matches,” stated the NFF boss.
Bosnia will be targeting revenge against Nigeria when they take on the Super Eagles in a friendly match billed for next year. The Eagles beat the Bosnian team by 1 goal to nothing at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Bosnia was the same group with the Super Eagles during the FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil. They however could not get past the group stage with the Eagles and Argentina making it to the round of 16.
