President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Gusao has said that the football federation will ensure a virile Beach Soccer league across the country.
Gusao who spoke on Thursday while inaugurating the newly reconstituted Futsal/Beach Soccer sub-committee said despite the fact that the Nigeria Beach Soccer Interest Group has been organizing the league, the NFF will interface with them to see how the league will be fine-tuned to groom quality players.
He charged the Committee height to come up with a blueprint of how best to develop Beach Soccer, so as to return the country to its enviable in the sport, not just in Africa but around the world.
The NFF boss further promised that going forward, the country will be attending all the Beach Soccer championships; even as he explained that the NFF pulled out of the championships about four years ago because there was no league then.
“Today we are here to inaugurate the Futsal/Beach Soccer sub committee to signal our desire to take back our rightful position in the game. Nigeria has been a dominant force in the sport and due to the fact that we did not have a Beach Soccer league then, we were only selecting players from everywhere and the outcome did not match our reputation as a force in the continent.
“Therefore, as a committee it is now your duty to fashion out the framework of how the league will run. You have to team up with the group that took it upon themselves to organize the Beach Soccer league. We have to harmonize and make the league stronger”.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman of the committee, Otuekong Nse Essien promised that they will hit the ground running in making sure that the objective of the NFF was realized.
