A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Enhancement of Transparent Leadership, has canvassed support for the re-election of Senator Theodore Orji from Abia Central Senatorial zone.
The NGO in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja by its Executive Director, Christian Nwachukwu, said the senator has done a lot for his people and should be given another chance to continue.
According to him, “The people of Abia Central have felt the impact of the senator through provision of good road, water, medical care, students’ scholarships and many more.
“Presently, there are a lot of students benefiting from scholarship through Orji’s foundation and are making waves in the country and beyond. Aside that, the governor has empowered widows with various skills to fend for their families”.
The statement added that the senator has contributed immensely to the amendment of 1999 constitution and is a staunch advocate of united Nigeria.
“The ongoing constitutional amendment by the senate cannot be complete without making reference to the senator. Most significantly is the state/local government joint account. The senator is of the opinion that the issues be addressed such that it will not put the states and local councils in conflict”, it said.
Being a democrat, the organisation said the former Governor of the state believes that power lies with the people and also stood against imposition of candidates by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
