The Women in Agribusiness Facility (WiAF), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) said it has trained about fifty women in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on agricultural business.
WiAF’s National Coordinator, Dr Ibukun Ogwu disclosed this at a workshop in Gwagwalada (FCT) on Monday.
She said the training was aimed at encouraging women to participate actively in agriculture activities.
Our correspondent reports that, the training includes how women could strengthen their abilities, manage their operations and sell their products in local and foreign markets.
Ogwu said the Foundation had developed women who owned agribusiness across 15 to 20 agricultural value chains.
“We provide them with online and real-time business development services including outlining investment opportunities for women across the supply chain.
“We identify the gaps that women can fill within the investment spectrum. We work with registered members and take up opportunities project activities,’’ she explained.
She said the women were assisted with the preparation of business plan, documentation for accessing grants, credits and special funding from government.
She also said WiAF supported employability and career development of women professionals in the agricultural sector.
One of the trainees, Mrs Bibiana Omoha commended the organisation for the training which she said taught them some facts about agribusiness.
She said “I will register with the group to become a member so that I can get connected within the Nigeria Agribusiness community and be updated on issues.’’
Mrs Nwanfor Gift, another trainee, thanked WiAF for the programme, saying she would start keeping records of all inputs in her agribusiness.
