The House of Representatives Committee on Diaspora, in collaboration with the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), on Monday held the maiden Nigerian Stakeholders Engagement on Diaspora Governance (NiSEDiG 2025) — a landmark event aimed at strengthening diaspora governance and deepening legislative-executive partnership for national development.
Speaking at the event held in Conference Room 028 of the National Assembly, Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Tochukwu Chinedu Okere, said the engagement marks “a new era of collaboration, innovation, and accountability” on how Nigeria connects with its citizens abroad.
Okere announced the launch of the Nigerians in Diaspora Response App/Web (NiDRes) — a digital platform designed to improve government support and communication with Nigerians across the globe.
“NiDRes will enable real-time reporting of emergencies, welfare issues, and consular requests,” Okere said. “It’s a one-stop platform for verified assistance, investment opportunities, and diaspora engagement.”
He added that the app would also allow secure data sharing, case tracking, and access to embassy contacts, legal support, and emergency services—ensuring faster, transparent responses from government agencies and missions.
