Niger adopts measures to guard people against Covid- 19.

Niger State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to adopt proactive measures to safeguard public health and protect the citizens of the State against the coronavirus (COVID – 19) dreaded pandemic.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG) and Chairman, Niger State Task Force on COVID-19, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane urged people to adhere strictly to social distancing, maintain personal hygiene, regular hand washing with soap under running water, ensure application of hand sanitizers and stay at home as advised by health workers.
The Chairman noted that, the Niger State COVID-19 Preventive, Containment and Emergency Order 2020 recently pronounced by Government and came into force last month is to prevent and contain the spread of coronavirus in the State.
The SSG warned Nigerlites that fails to comply with the restriction, prohibition or requirement imposed under this Order or do anything contrary to the provisions of this Order shall be liable to a fine or imprisonment or both fine and imprisonment in accordance with the extant laws.
Matane informed that the State currently has no confirmed case of the COVID-19, but Government has step up various preventive and safety mechanisms, including establishing and equipping twelve isolation centres across the State, closure of all entering point to the State, suspension of all forms of gatherings to tackle the spread of the pandemic in the State among others.
