A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Niger State, Alhaji Awaisu Giwa Kuta, has called on the state government to launch an investigation on the projects executed by members of the state House of Assembly in the last four years.

Kuta, who is the Coordinator, Community Relations to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, stated this during an interaction with journalists in Minna, the state capital.

He noted that the assembly has lost focus even as people have lost confidence in them.

According to him, funds were released for various constituency projects to the lawmakers, hence the need to investigate the funds and implementation of the projects in the interest of the state and the people they represent.

Giwa also disclosed, “the State Assembly stood as guarantor on behalf of the 25 LGs to obtain the project loan in which N25 million was allegedly slashed from such loan, and that is why I’m urging the state government to commence Independent Investigation into the processes of the loan”.

Kuta further condemned the resolution by the assembly to stop the local government election, describing the move as unfortunate.

“There is no provision for caretaker Committee in the constitution. The Niger State Independent Electoral Commission had concluded plans to hold the councils elections but was disrupted by the lawmakers majority whole had lost in their primaries to return back to the house, ” he added.
