Wife of Niger State Governor, Dr. Amina Sani Bello has disclosed that a committee has been established on the standard operation procedures that will ensure all Legal Works on Gender Based Violence in the state.
Dr Amina Bello was speaking at a town hall meeting on Gender Based Violence issues at Emirs Palace in Minna, said law implementation of its laws was a challenge despite its passage by governor Abubakar Sani Bello.
She hinted that over one hundred cases of gender violence have been recorded on mostly children with rape as the major cases, hence the need for accurate data of victims.
Governor’s wife decried over difficulty challenges in getting the required evidence to sentenced the accused persons, just as some cases going on in communities without being reported.
Director Gender Based Violence, Barrister Mario Man who is a Member of the committee says plans are on the way to sensitise every community on gender based violence.
Mairo Man also solicited the Media to play a major role in the sensitization drive to communities across the state.
