Niger Gov’t to unveil 250 tractors, 50 harvesters, others

Niger State Government has finalized plans to launch a large-scale agricultural intervention for the distribution of 250 tractors, 50 combine harvesters, and 150,000 bags of fertilizer aimed at revitalizing farming activities and strengthening food production across the state.
A statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government SSG, Alhaji Abubakar Usman, said the official flag-off ceremony is scheduled for this weekend at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Airport, beginning.
According to him, the event will be performed by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, under the initiative, farmers will benefit the farm inputs as a move designed to boost productivity and accelerate the adoption of mechanized agriculture.
Usman explained that the programme forms part of the state government’s broader strategy to enhance agricultural development, improve food security, and modernize farming practices.
He emphasized that the intervention is aligned with Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda, which prioritizes increased productivity and advancement of the agricultural sector.
The SSG further noted that the initiative complements the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in the areas of food sufficiency, economic diversification, and rural development.
He urged stakeholders, farmers, and members of the public to attend the ceremony, describing it as “a crucial step toward positioning Niger State as a key contributor to Nigeria’s agricultural value chain.”
