Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Niger state council has kicked against the state government plan to sell its media organizations in the state.
The state council made its stance known during a Congress meeting held at IBB Pen House Minna, which was presided over by the State NUJ Chairman, Comrade Abu Nmadu who entirely distanced the union from the plan.
According to the position paper of the union presented to the Niger state government read before the Congress by the Secretary, Mohammed Usman Chiji declared that the union can not be party to the sale, privatize or commercialization of the government owned media organizations in the state.
Similarly, a motion was moved and seconded by members of the union against the government move, urging the Niger state government to stop the plan.
