Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Mohammed Sani Musa 313 has redeemed his 100 million Naira pledge to support education and empower youth and women in Shiroro local government area of the state.
The representative of the Coalition of Shiroro Association (COSA), Comrade Usman Ibrahim Kuta made this known at a press briefing in Kuta, the council headquarters, saying this kind gesture has taken away burden from the parents and students.
Comrade Kuta disclosed that 1,346 registered students to benefit free WAEC and NECO examinations to the sum of N29,612,000 with N22,000 per students from the area councils.
He added that no fewer than 114 students also have been registered for JAMB to the sum of N741,000 with N26,500 each in the 15 existing public schools from the two local government areas of Shiroro and Munya respectively.
Kuta who applauded the singular efforts of the senator, described as ‘ first of its kind and exceptional service’ considering the impact of insecurity bedeviling the people that have resulted in to high poverty in the area, just as youth and women empowerment will soon take effect.
The chairman, Shiroro local government, Akilu Isyaku Kuta in an interview, called on the state and federal governments to ensure the establishment of a military barrack around Maganda, the identified route of bandits in to the state from Zamfara to end the security challenges facing the senatorial district.
He revealed that about 17 public schools were closed down from the council in Alawa, Manta, Kurebe, Erena, Gurmana and Galkago wards but have now resumed while others have applied for reopening in due course.
