Niger Senator boosts agric with 3 trucks of fertilizer to farmers

The Senator representing Niger East Senatorial District, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa has distributed three trailer load of assorted fertilizers worth millions of naira to farmers in his constituency.
The Lawmaker during the presentation of the items to the farmers at his zonal office in Minna, said Niger East alone has the capacity to feed the whole of Nigeria as it is blessed with vast arable land.
The farmers are drawn from the nine local government areas under Niger East, which include Shiroro, Munya, Paikoro, Rafi, Suleja, Gurara, Chanchaga, Bosso and Tafa local government councils.
Senator Musa the gesture is to boost agricultural activities, not just in those local government areas but Niger State as a whole.
He said if given necessary support, the farmers in Niger East can contribute immensely to boosting the economic capacity of the country.
Represented at the event by the Sarkin Shanu Zazzau Suleja, Alhaji Sule who lamented the negative impact of insecurity on agricultural activities in the zone, reiterating the need for the federal government to tackle the challenge once and for all.
“The Federal government must find a lasting solution to the banditry problem bedeviling Niger East, so as to maximize the agricultural potential of the area. There is no doubt that insecurity is a major clog in the wheel of farmers in the area.” Senator Sani Musa said through his Alhaji Sule who performed the flag off ceremony.
An APC stalwart, Alhaji Zubairu Ismail Zannah, who gave the measures on how the exercise would be conducted however, warned against diversion of the items, stressing the need to ensure that they reach the targeted farmers.
A total of 1800 bags of fertilizers were distributed, and they were not part of the constituency project of Senator Sani Musa, but his personal effort at improving on the lives of the people.
