Date:

The Niger State Government has clarified comments made by the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Barrister Maurice Magaji, regarding the recent bandit attack on Pissa Community in Borgu Local Government Area, stating that his remarks were misinterpreted in some media reports.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Obed Nuhu Nana, the government acknowledged that the community was attacked by armed bandits, resulting in loss of lives and destruction of property.

The government described the incident as unfortunate and extended its condolences to the families of the victims and the affected community.

According to the statement, the comments attributed to the Homeland Security Commissioner were not intended to deny the occurrence of the attack but were aimed at assuring the public that the security situation had been brought under control following swift intervention by security agencies.
