Nigeria at 54: Jang advocates tolerance, prayers

Plateau state governor, Jonah David Jang, has called on the Nigerians to tolerate one another and pray for the restoration of peace in the country.

The governor, who made the call at a special prayer session to mark the 54th Independent Anniversary at Jos Central Mosque, said the foundation of development in any modern society is peace and that everyone has to imbibe the spirit of tolerance and love to one another for the development of our state and Nigeria at large.

Daude Lamba, who represented the governor at the prayer session, appreciated the people of the state for their role in returning peace to Plateau.“The state had experienced crisis, but through prayers and commitment of our people, today peace has returned; we must all join hands together irrespective of ethnic and religious background to consolidate the peace process. We must also continue to pray for the return of peace across the country”, he said.

The Deputy Chief Imam of Jos, Sheikh Lawal Adam, who led the prayers, called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace in the country, appealing to leaders at all levels to showcase justice and fairness to their people.
