Nigeria’s U-15 team, the Future Eagles early Wednesday morning defeated Mexico 3-1 in the opening match of the 2019 Japan Dream Cup Invitational Tournament, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report authoritatively.
The teenagers led by coach Haruna Ilerika Usman, were compact and ruthless as they brushed aside the Mexicans in brazen fashion.
Sopuruchukwu Egosionu led the rout in the first half with his 44th minute strike while Tobi Adeleke covered a penalty in the 55th minute before Adeyeye Damilola buried the match beyond the reach of the Mexicans with the 3rd goal in the 72nd.
The Mexicans who rallied round in the twilight of the match got a consolation.
The win puts the team in good stead as Japan and Romania battled to a 1-1 draw in the second match of the tournament.
However, Japan prevailed against the Romanians in the penalty shootout with 4-2 triumph.
The Future Eagles next match is Thursday against host nation Japan by 10am Nigeria time
