The former Chairman, Senator Committee on Education, Senator Dr. Alex Usman Kadiri said altitudinal change is the panacea to ending corruption in the Country irrespective of the number of times you review or change the constitution.
He said if there is no change of heart or behavioral change nothing will be achieved.
Addressing the press, Kadiri said if we are committed to make Nigeria a better place for everyone, we have men and women in all sphere of life to make it work.
“Is Britain operating on any written constitution and is their Country not working or growing” he asked.
He said for any society to develop and attain some level of development, the citizens must have a positive heart for growth, stressing that it is not the constitution that develops the society but people operate the constitution.
On the defection galore hitting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressive Congress (APC) the senator stated that selfish ambition, greed are all responsible for why they cannot stay and nurture a party.
He advised politicians to be patience and nurture any ruling party that is in power so that people don’t see them as greedy people that has grievous implications that could draw the wrath of the youths. He said if the youths observe that politicians can no longer protect them and all they know is cross-carpeting and defection, if means all hope is lost and no one is safe.
He frowns at a situations where a ruling party threatens and coerce the opposition to it camp and if another one takes over tomorrow, it begins the process of retaliation which is not good for democracy, democracy cannot be healthy that way.
According to him, if nothing is done to stabilize the polity it could lead to revolution, noting that it is not too late to salvage.
He noted that youths are already descanted with no hope anywhere and it seems as if there is no hope coming for them from anywhere.
As various, sections of the country are angling for presidency, Kadiri who is also one of the leaders from the North-Central said, at the moment there is no presidential hopeful that can emerge from the zone.
“Look around and tell me from what you are seeing if there is anyone that can contest for presidency in 2023. There is no one for now and I stand to be corrected” said Senator Kadiri.
