…Appeals to President Tinubu for Intervention

The Nigerian Scout Association may miss the 25th World Scout Jamboree due to lack of funding.
This was disclosed at the weekend by the Chief Commisssioner of Scout Mr. Dave Padopads-Awunah in a statement made available to Peoples’ Daily.
According to him, the event slated to hold between August 1–12, 2023 at Saemangeum, North Jeolla, South Korea, hosted by Korea Scout Association’s with the theme, “Draw Your Dream” is expected to be attended by about 50,000 participants across the world.
“The World Scout Jamboree which is an educational event that brings together the world’s young people to promote peace, mutual understanding and to develop leadership and life skills will be missed by Scouts of Nigerian if there is no intervention from the president who himself is an international scout of high repute.
“Ironically The Scout Association of Nigeria is set to miss the event.
Awunah who said the association has tried frantically to see the president over the event, called on him to assist so that the over 200 scouts invited from Nigeria can attend.
He said participants at the World Scout Jamboree are aged between 14 to 17 years, accompanied by adult leaders
“The World Scout Jamboree is open to boys and girls, young men and women and is for scouts across the world. Every Scout should have the opportunity to attend”
He added, “Almost all former president of the country including General Gowon, Obasanjo, Buhari, Babangida and even our current President Tinubu are strong Scout members”.
