The match attracted around 75,000 viewers, reflecting the growing influence of livestream culture among young audiences across the continent.
Smart BM, born Aina Precious Ayomide on 31 March 2005 in Agbado, Ogun State, is the third of four children in a Christian family. Alongside his work online, he is pursuing a degree in Mass Communication, a field many analysts say increasingly overlaps with the skills needed to navigate social media visibility. His rise mirrors that of other young Nigerians who are turning to digital platforms as alternative spaces for expression and economic opportunity.
The livestream followed a format common on TikTok, where creators compete in real time while audiences send virtual gifts, comments and votes that influence the direction of the match. These gifts, which can be converted into earnings, have become a key part of the platform’s ecosystem. Supporters of both streamers contributed throughout the broadcast, helping generate the high coin total that brought attention to the event.
