The National Association of Hair and Beauty Practitioners of Nigeria has declared that the industry is worth over ₦15 trillion, with projections indicating it could rise to ₦23 trillion by 2030.
The association’s new National President, Comrade Tina Doofan Orjir, disclosed this in her acceptance speech while outlining her vision for the sector.
She described the industry as a vital driver of poverty reduction and job creation, stressing its potential to address insecurity by empowering millions of Nigerians.
According to her, “These statistics show that our industry holds the way for poverty reduction and job creation thereby providing a pathway to reducing insecurity issues in the country.”
Orjir pledged to lead with inclusiveness, adding that she would be a “listening leader, committed to understanding needs, concerns, and ideas.”
She called on the Federal Government and relevant agencies to forge sustainable collaborations and partnerships to strengthen the sector for national growth.
“Our goals are ambitious, and our challenges are real. However, I am confident that together, we can achieve greatness,” she said.
The new president vowed to prioritise professional development, strengthen SMEs, and make Nigeria the hub of Africa’s hair and beauty industry.
She commended past leaders of the union and promised to build on their achievements.
“Together, we will elevate NAHBPON to new heights and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our members and our beloved country, Nigeria as a whole,” she said.
