The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) have inaugurated the Technical Committee for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF), with a mandate to position Nigeria’s tourism, culture and hospitality before delegates from more than 150 countries.
The committee was inaugurated at the NTDA headquarters in Abuja by the Director-General of NTDA, Mr. Ola Awakan, alongside the President and Chairman of the NIPR Governing Council, Dr. Ike Neliaku.
At the inauguration, members of the committee were tasked with developing an outstanding tourism and entertainment programme that will showcase Abuja and other key destinations within the Federal Capital Territory, while delivering memorable experiences for international visitors.
The committee brings together professionals from both organisations to leverage public relations, tourism and the creative industry in projecting a positive global image for Nigeria.
Its inauguration marks a major milestone in preparations for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum and the Naija Flavour International Tourism (NAFITO) Expo, both scheduled to hold in Abuja in November.
According to the organisers, the committee will design a rich tourism package highlighting Nigeria’s cultural heritage, historical attractions, hospitality, entertainment and creative industries, including theatre performances.
The initiative is expected to complement the forum’s activities by offering delegates authentic Nigerian experiences and strengthening the country’s reputation as an emerging destination for business events, tourism and cultural exchange.
With participants expected from over 150 countries, the organisers believe the tourism programme will not only enhance visitors’ experiences but also create opportunities to promote investment, cultural diplomacy and Nigeria’s diverse tourism assets on the global stage.
