From Ahmed Idris Birnin Kebbi

Following the recent approval of the N30,000 new minimum wage by the Kebbi State government, yesterday the Kebbi State Chapter of Nigeria Labour Congress has disagreed with the State Government decision as there was no circular to that effect.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday at the NUT office, the state chairman of the Union, Comrade Umar Halilu Alhassan said that there was no agreement reached between the government and labour adding that the decision was done alone by the government.
He added further that after the extensive and wider consultation, labour decided not to agree with the state government decision, described it as unconstitutional.
He then urged the civil servants to disown the state government’s plan of its own minimum wage adding that after the agreement reached they will pass the information to the appropriate channel to ensure peaceful agreements.
“We are aware of this, we just had of it on air, so we are not agreeing, we meet with other sister unions and we agreed to disown the government implementation of the N30,00 minimum wage,” he added.
