From Omale Adama, Lokoja

Traditional rulers in Kogi state have been enjoined to ensure peace, unity and security of their domains in the face of the insecurity occasioned by Boko Haram that is threatening the very foundation of the country.

The state Governor, Captain Idris Wada, while tasking traditional rulers in Lokoja,at the weekend, stated that, as custodians of culture, they should use their vantage position to mobilise their subjects for enduring peace and security.

Captain Idris Wada gave the charge when the new Elegbe of Egbe in Yagba-West local government area, Oba Ayodele Erukera led the people of his domain on a solidarity visit to Lugard House in appreciation of his appointment by the state government.

The Governor, who did not mince words on the need for individuals to be security conscious, declared that the security of lives and property in any given society is a collective responsibility of both the government and the governed.

Kogi state, he said, has enjoyed some relative peace over the years and warned that any threat to the prevailing unity and harmony among the various ethnic groups in the state would be resisted by his administration.

Captain Wada described the appointment of Oba Ayodele Erukera as the new Elegbe of Egbe land as well deserved and called on the people of Egbe land to cooperate with their own for success, saying that he is their choice, based on his track record of service and wealth of experience.
