The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Bauchi state Chapter, has counseled the Bauchi state government to expedite action on the completion of the Bauchi Specialist Hospital to ameliorate the suffering of people in the state, just as it reiterated its commitment to step up enlightenment of the general public on the scourge of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD)
NMA Bauchi Chapter Chairman, Dr. Muhammad Dauda Yusuf made the appeal at a press conference held to mark the 2014 annual physician week tagged war against Ebola, with a theme- An appraisal of strategies towards Ebola outbreak and prevention in Nigeria, at the weekend in Bauchi, saying that the Specialist Hospital will go a long way in improving the health care system in the state.
According to him, people in the state need the Specialist Hospital to ameliorate their suffering, especially the sick persons, nursing mothers and children.
Dr. Dauda made a similar appeal to the management of Abubakar Tafawa to also expedite action on the proposed College of Medical Sciences in starting training of both medical doctors as well as all other health care professionals
The NMA chairman reiterated their commitment during the week to sensitize and educate the general public on the scourge of Ebola virus
“We intend to mount a continuous media engagement in educating and enlightening members of the general public through the week and beyond, about the Ebola virus diseases scourge and other related public health concern”
