The New Nigeria Peoples Party, (NNPP) Bauchi State chapter has decried the non-conduct of local government election and non appointment of commissioners and agencies’ board members in the State.
The State Chairman of the NNPP, Engineer Mohammed Barde, blamed Governor Mohammed Abdullahi over development and the non-readiness of the APC-led administration to relinquish power, saying “this is undemocratic”.
Barde said, NNPP had put all available structures on ground to disorganize any party in the state, set aside APC and take over governance at the 20 local government areas of the State whenever election was conducted.
The Chairman lamented the attitude of APC led government, particularly as it concerned local government election, saying the party was not ready to relinquish power, hence her refusal to conduct local government election.
The NNPP according to him was standing by to take over all the positions in the local councils from them. He said his Party was ever ready for election, but regretted that no other party was showing interest in the election.
The Chapter Chairman, Engineer Barde said, “If Governor MA says election will be conducted tomorrow, we are set. Our being a new party will not stop us from wining all the twenty local government elections. We are more on ground than any other political party, we are grass root party.
“We have vibrant youths and leaders of tomorrow who are willing to lead this state and country. We have prepared people for any future election.”
The Opposition Party also commented on the appointments of commissioners and boards members of MDA, parastatals in the state, saying, “His delay in filling important government positions, such as
commissioners, Boards members in the state, is now hurting the smooth running of government businesses. This is undemocratic.
“The state can ill-afford further delay by the governor to make these vital appointments, because from the ministries, departments and agencies, everything has come to virtual standstill,” Engineer Mohammed said.
When contacted on phone, the Publicity Secretary of APC in the state, Alhaji Auwal Jalla, as at the time of this report simply said, “I will get back to you. Right now I am in a meeting.”
