NNPP, APC, PDP shun planned protest in Kano

The ruling New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP, and the oppositions All Progressives Congress, APC and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Dakata Ward, Nassarawa Local Government of Kano state have collectively shunned the planned nationwide protest.
The parties made their position known to journalists at a joint gathering to enlighten the public against the dangers of the protest, held at Dakata Gidan Dagaci on Saturday evening.
In a joint press statement issued to newsmen immediately after the meeting, singed by Umar Usman (APC) Dakata Ward Chairman,
> Sale Danbo (NNPP) Dakata Ward Chairman and the PDP Dakata Ward Chairman, the parties said they see no reason for the protest.
The political parties believed that the timing and nature of the planned protests are premature and could lead to unintended consequences that may hinder national progress.
They pointed out that while they fully recognize the democratic right of citizens to voice their grievances and hold their leaders accountable, there are other means to anchor their voices better than protest.
“We acknowledge the genuine concerns and hardships faced by many citizens. However, it is essential to give the current administration the necessary time to implement its policies and deliver on its promises.
“Our nation stands at a critical juncture, and unity, patience, and constructive dialogue are vital to navigating these challenging times.
“While it is natural to feel frustrated and seek immediate change, we urge all citizens to consider constructive engagement as a more effective means of driving progress. Dialogue, peaceful advocacy, and collaboration with the government can yield positive results without the accompanying risks of large-scale protests.
“We encourage civil society groups, professional bodies, and individuals to engage with the government through established channels to voice their concerns and suggest viable solutions,” the parties said.
The parties chairmen noted that the federal and state governments are barely one year into their four-year terms, therefore, according to them, “it is crucial to recognize that the performance of any administration cannot be fairly judged based on just one year of governance.”
“Effective and sustainable development requires time, and the current government is in the process of implementing numerous policies aimed at long-term progress. Immediate judgments and reactions may undermine the potential benefits that these policies could yield in the coming years,”
They pointed out that the Kano state and federal government have performed well in terms of economic reforms, education, infrastructure and agriculture within one year in power.
They therefore appealed to the residents to shun the protest which according to them portends danger as the sponsors are yet to be identified.
