No alternative to Buhari in 2019, says Gov Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari remains the only alternative to rule the country.
The Governor, who made this assertion yesterday during an interaction with Journalists at the Governor’s Lodge, maintained strongly that the President is a man of integrity, discipline and courage who has the capability to fight corruption that has ravaged the existence of the country.
“I have not seen any other alternative to President Buhari. The man is strong and even far younger than Robert Mugabe who resigned from office recently. I remain committed to my belief that Buhari remains the kind of President Nigeria needs,” he said.
It can be recalled that Governor Ortom had last week, alongside his counterparts from Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Almakura, Niger State Abubakar Sani Bello and Plateau State Simon Lalong, as well as Senator George Akume who represents Benue North West Senatorial District, endorsed the President for a second term in office in Abuja.
On the recent resignation of erstwhile Vice president of Nigeria Alhaji Atiku Abubakar from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the main opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Ortom averred that it will not affect the fortunes of the party, adding that the APC is waxing stronger now.
“Democracy entails freedom. It is where your interest lies that you will go. It is not a crime to leave one party to another. But the APC is getting stronger and united because we are committed to fulfilling the objective of the party. Nigerians will team up with us in 2019 because we are in touch with them.
He also, disclosed that the sum of 370 million naira has so far been recovered as stolen fund from a company that told government that it collected the money in error.
Ortom intimated that more than 13 persons have been arraigned before various courts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the Police, even as he vowed to ensure that all those found culpable of diverting public fund are brought to justice.
“My government is always ready to work with anti graft agencies to ensure that all stolen funds are recovered,” he pledged.
