The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has declared that no Governor or individual exercises total control over the ruling party, stressing that major decisions are taken at the party’s national headquarters.

Yilwatda made the assertion while speaking on the Sunset programme aired on Jay FM in Jos, Plateau State, where he addressed concerns about internal power dynamics within the party.

According to him, the APC operates strictly on established structures rather than personal influence, noting that decisions at the state level are often initiated and coordinated at the national level.

“Across the country, nobody can take any section of the party. For anything you are going to do at the state level, it is planned at the national level. It is not planned at the state level. This is the APC structure, and that is how we work,” he said.

The APC chairman emphasised that no office holder, including Governors, Senators, or party officials, has unilateral authority over the party.

“We work with structure. We don’t work with sentiments and emotions. Nobody has control over the party, even me. No local government chairman has control over APC. No Governor has control over APC. No Senator or individual has control over APC,”  Yilwatda clarified.

He added that the party’s reliance on institutional processes was designed to strengthen internal democracy and prevent the dominance of any single individual or political bloc within the APC.
