Dr. Abdulrazzak Sa’ad Namdas, a former Spokesperson of the House of Representatives and a governorship aspirant in the Adamawa state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that he is not anticipating any form of imposition in the contest.
Namdas who also contested for the same position in 2023 said as a legislator, he has been adequately prepared for what it takes to run for the election and also to govern the state.
He expressed his confidence that the national leadership of the party will in line with the directive of the President ensure that the primary will be free, fair and credible.
“Yes, you know, once you serve as a member of the National Assembly or as a legislator, you are already prepared for the task ahead. I have been serving in the National Assembly for eight years. I think I am well prepared to cross over to the executive.
“This is not the first time I am contesting. I contested in 2023, and I am back again in 2027, by the special grace of God. I am sure our leaders will give us a fair playing ground, and we are going to test our popularity with the people of our state”.
On the issue of imposition, Namdas said; “There is no issue of imposition as far as I am concerned. The leaders of the party at the national level—the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the National Chairman of the party, and the governor, who is also a party leader at the state level—have all assured us that there will be no imposition.
“I have no cause to fear. We are politicians and have presented ourselves before the public, which is why we were elected in the past. I can tell you that in Adamawa state, there will be no imposition.
“Leaders will give us the opportunity to contest. If we are called for consensus, that does not mean we will not participate in the process. If we agree among ourselves, fine. If we do not agree, we go for a contest”.
According to him, as a politician the most important thing is to get prepared for a contest, then if there is a consensus, it will be accepted provided all those involved accept it.
“But first and foremost, as a politician, contesting is more important than relying on someone to agree with you. If he does not agree, what happens? So we are prepared.
“I am very sure that with a level playing ground—as our party leaders have always said—politicians should go and test their popularity. If you win, fine. If you lose, that is also part of politics”.
He advised politicians to always behave like sportsmen, knowing that in every contest, there will be winners and losers
