The Rivers state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described the allegation by the Rivers state government of a purported impeachment plot against Governor Rotimi Amaechi as “untrue”, and an issue not yet contemplated by the party.
PDP however wondered why a government that claims to have a clean hand, without even an iota of corruption, should be expressing fears of possible impeachment of its principal head.
The party, in a statement signed by Jerry Needam, Special Adviser on Media to its Chairman, Felix Obuah emphasized that at no time had it conceived, nurtured and expressed such intention to impeach the governor, neither does it intend to attack him in whatever guise.
According to the party, it’s presently concerned with a more serious issue of repositioning itself for the coming elections to enable it win and liberate the state from the mess created by the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In a related development, the Rivers PDP strongly denied attempts to attack Governor Amaechi as alleged by the state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, saying it is a responsible corporate citizen that has no reason to take such uncivilized action.
The party also warned the commissioner to stop peddling lies and insulting President Goodluck Jonathan.
