NPF Arrests Four Banditry Suspects, Recovers Arms in Kaduna

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested four suspected bandits and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during an operation in Kaduna State.

The operation, carried out by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Special Tactical Squad (FID-STS), led to the arrest of Abdumumini Abubakar (40), Maikano Gambo (47), Saleh Thompson (47), and Oyonyi Odango (40) on March 7, 2026, in Tayu, Sanga Local Government Area.

Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles with magazines, 80 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition, and a locally fabricated pistol with 20 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are linked to banditry and other violent crimes in the area. Police authorities said efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal network and recover additional weapons.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the commitment of the Force to tackling banditry and safeguarding lives and property nationwide.

The statement was issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, on April 27, 2026.
