The Solid Miners’ ambition of going six straight games without defeat was scuttled by Katsina United when both sides clashed at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium, Katsina, on the match-day twenty-six tie of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League campain on Sunday afternoon.
With nothing to separate either side heading into the interval, it was the hosts, Katsina United, who would scoop all maximum points, nine minutes before regulation time as Boubacar Massally lashed on to a poorly cleared ball to controversially bury the ball past Mubarak Hussaini whose goalline clearance was not enough to keep the ball in play.
Despite being reduced to ten men following a red card to Azeez Falolu for deliberately wasting time after being substituted, Katsina United held on to the slim scoreline to win 1-0, as the Solid Miners endured their first loss in five successive games.
Sunday’s result saw the Lafia-based Nasarawa United dropping down the pecking order to 4th position with 41 points from 26 games, while Katsina United moved into the top-ten status on the log, placing 9th with 37 points.
United will return to Lafia where they hope to make a swift return to success again when they play-host to visiting Bendel Insurance of Benin City, Edo State, on match-day twenty-seven, on Sunday, 22nd February, 2026, by 4pm, before another long road trip to Rangers International FC of Enugu on March 1st, 2026.
