The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Niger State Command has arrested two alleged suspects revenue fraudsters, involved in the unlawful printing and sale of vehicle stickers in the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Abubakar Rabiu Muti, in a statement issued in Minna, said the breakthrough follows an official complaint lodged by the Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NGSIRS), regarding the fraudulent activities depriving the state government of legitimate revenue.
According the statement, the principal suspect, Ahmad Obodo, a professional printer from Kwale Local Government Area, Delta State, has been under the watchful eyes of NSCDC operatives since 2024.
It added that after months of intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tracking, the suspect was eventually arrested and revealed that he was operating without authorization, illegally produced and distributed more than 500 vehicle stickers in 2024 while
misleading unsuspecting motorists and diverting state revenue for personal gain.
Also, Obodo’s alleged accomplice, Umar Aliyu Babangida was also arrested and currently undergoing interrogation. Another suspect linked to the illegal operation, Noma, who resides in Kontagora, remains at large.
The PRO noted that the NSCDC is intensifying efforts to track apprehend and bring him to justice hence the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.
“The NSCDC, Niger State Command, under the leadership of Commandant Adamu Abdullahi Kambra has revealed that the command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring law and order, protecting public resources, and curbing criminal activities that pose threats to the state’s economic stability.
“Abdullahi Kambra reassured residents of its unwavering dedication to security, crime prevention, and the protection of government assets”, the statement added.
