The newly inaugurated Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Abuja branch, Engr. Ahmed A. S. I. Kutigi, has expressed his readiness to lead the branch through a transformative period.
Speaking during his maiden general meeting as Chairman, Engr. Kutigi emphasized that he has overcome initial challenges and is well-prepared to steer the organization toward success.
“We are ready for it, and we have done it today. Hopefully, we will do even more in the future,” Engr. Kutigi confidently stated during the event in Abuja.
He delivered a presentation titled “Critical Problem Solving and Decision Making,” emphasizing the importance of creative thinking and decisive leadership.
Reflecting on the obstacles faced in assuming leadership, Engr. Kutigi remarked, “As far as I’m concerned, I have overcome all the challenges now, except for the ones that are not new to me. Leadership always comes with challenges, but with the support of my team, we are ready to deliver.”
Engr. Kutigi shared that the Abuja branch is working on a comprehensive two-year roadmap, which will be unveiled during the official inauguration scheduled for December.
“We are planning carefully and hope to inaugurate our committees in October, leading to the unveiling of our strategic plan,” he explained. He emphasized the need for expertise, advice, and careful planning to ensure the branch’s objectives are achieved.
Despite the rain, the meeting saw over 100 members in attendance, a turnout Engr. Kutigi praised.
“I am very happy with the turnout today, and the attendance was impressive despite the weather,” he noted.
In his presentation, Engr. Kutigi highlighted the importance of creativity in problem-solving and decision-making. “Critical thinking and decision-making are essential skills for survival.
“Unfortunately, these are often overlooked, even though they are introduced as early as secondary school,” he said.
He encouraged members to be proactive in identifying and solving problems, noting that decision-making comes with its own set of challenges.
“What we did today was to look at decision-making holistically, from step A to step Z, ensuring that we can address problems through amicable decision-making while considering all available parameters,” he concluded.
With this strong start, the NSE Abuja branch is poised for an exciting and productive future under Engr. Kutigi’s leadership.
