NSE Market Index appreciates by 0.77%

NSETrading activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday closed upbeat with the All-Share Index increasing by 0.77 per cent.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Index grew by 305.77 points to close at 40,061.24 points from the 39,755.47 points recorded on Monday.

The Market Capitalisation appreciated by N101 billion to close at N13.228 trillion as against the N13.127 trillion achieved on Monday.

A breakdown of the price movement showed that Forte Oil led the gainers’ chart with N7.46 to close at N194 per share.

Dangote Cement followed with N4.91 to close at N227.90 per share, while Total Oil garnered N2.98 to close at N159.99 per share.

Lafarge Wapco rose by N2.44 to close at N112.50, while UACN gained N2.20 to close at N63 per share.

Nigerian Breweries led the losers chart with N2.97 to close at N173.03 per share.

Seplat lost N2 to close at N634, while Unilever dipped N1.34 to close at N48.19 per share.

Oando Plc share price dropped 97k to close at N18.05, while Caverton decreased by 61k to close at N5.73 per share.

In all, a total of 292.14 million shares worth N3.98 billion were traded by investors in 4,813 deals compared with 360.03 million shares valued at N6.62 billion achieved in 4,816 deals on Monday.

UNIC emerged the most traded equity, accounting for 38.46 million shares worth N19.23 million.

Zenith Bank came second on he activity chart with 36.53 million shares valued N856.04 million, while Costodyins Insurance sold 30.56 million shares worth N9.61 million.

NAN reports that UACN recorded a turnover of 17.97 million valued at N1.14 billion, while Access Bank accounts for 12.68 million shares worth N118.73 million. (NAN)
