Reforms in the education sector under Governor Uba Sani’s administration are delivering tangible results, with Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in Zaria making significant progress in program accreditation, infrastructure, and student welfare.

The institution’s Rector, Engr. Muhammad Kabir Abdullah shared this during a facility tour of the polytechnic in Zaria, Kaduna State, when welcoming a group of journalists.

He mentioned that ongoing support from the Kaduna State Government has helped the college gain accreditation for several new programs from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).

The recently accredited courses include National Diploma in Law, Artificial Intelligence, National Certificate in Education, and Supply and Procurement, among others—bringing the total number of accredited programs at the polytechnic to about seventy.

Engr. Abdullah also noted that since Governor Uba Sani assumed office, the institution has experienced notable improvements in funding, academic development, staff recruitment, and infrastructure, reflecting the administration’s commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education.

During the visit, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Information, explained that the government’s educational investments are part of a broader strategy aligned with Governor Uba Sani’s reform agenda, aimed at improving education and generating employment opportunities to equip young people with relevant, marketable skills and address the root causes of conflict and insecurity across the state.

“This effort is aimed at producing graduates with the competencies required in the labor market, thereby reducing unemployment and youth restiveness,” the Commissioner said.

Additionally, Abubakar Buhari, President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG), commended the state government’s initiatives to enhance student welfare, including the renovation of hostels at the polytechnic and the halving of tuition fees at all state-owned tertiary institutions.

He described these measures as significant relief for students and their families, noting that improved hostel facilities and lower fees have increased access to higher education and improved students’ living conditions.

The SUG President assured that students will continue to support the policies and programs of the Kaduna State Government to strengthen education and foster a better learning environment across the state.
