Zamfara State Government has warned that the State Delegates Conference of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Zamfara State Council can not hold as rescheduled by the national headquarters of the NUJ and slated to be conducted on the 14th/05/2022.
The warning for the indefinite suspension of the delegates conference was contained in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Zamfara State Ministry of Information, barrister Sani Nassarawa which was also copied to all Security Chiefs in the state for appropriate actions.
“The NUJ has readjusted its planned delegates conference without due consultation with the State Ministry of Information which is responsible for the supervision of the elections, therefore, the readjusted date and time has appeared not favourable for the exercise to be peacefully conducted as expected”, the statement has lamented.
It further cried that, security report reaching the State Ministry of Information was not in the opinion of allowing the delegates conference of the NUJ to hold, therefore, the reason that the elections should be indefinitely suspended for the safety of all members of the union that will be in attendance.
