In a display of commitment to member welfare, the Grace Ike-led Executive Committee of the NUJ FCT Council has distributed over 600 bags of rice to support its members during the festive season.
The distribution event, held at the NUJ FCT Secretariat, was filled with excitement and camaraderie among the attendees. Journalists exchanged festive greetings, reflecting the spirit of the season, as they awaited the chairman’s remarks. Many expressed gratitude for this thoughtful gesture, which emphasizes the union’s commitment to its members’ well-being and fosters unity.
Grace Ike while addressing journalist said, “We have started distributing rice to our members to celebrate the festive season. Christmas is a time to honor the birth of Jesus Christ while promoting love and unity. This initiative reflects our dedication to fostering joy among NUJ FCT Council members.”
Ike reassured members that this is just the beginning of several initiatives aimed at enhancing their welfare. “We are reaching over 600 members based on the last congress register for distribution, highlighting the union’s engagement with its members,” she explained.
She also emphasized the council’s transparency, noting, “This is the first batch, and we plan to roll out a second batch in January. We are committed to accountability and efficiency in our operations.”
Reflecting on the initial weeks in office, Ike remarked, “Despite being in office for less than a month and facing challenges with resources, we immediately began working. Our passion for humanity drives us to give back to society through selfless service.”
In their response, Chapel leaders thanked the Grace Ike-led administration for this unprecedented welfare initiative. A representative stated, “This initiative demonstrates the council’s genuine commitment to member welfare. It has strengthened our confidence in the leadership’s ability to provide impactful services.”
