The Nigeria Union of Journalists Yobe state Council on Tuesday inaugurated new executive members that would steer its affairs for the period of three years.
Comrade Rajab Mohammed Ismail was re-elected unopposed as Council Chairman at the just concluded election held at the Yobe Council Secretariat, in Damaturu, Yobe state capital.
Other members of the council, Usman Mohammed Nasoro, vice Chairman, Alhassan Sule Mamudo, Secretary, Babayo Wakili, Assistant Secretary, Murjanatu Hamisu Yalwa, Auditor, Baba Shehu Mohammed, treasurer; while returned unopposed.
However, one vacant positions, that of the financial secretary has been scheduled for bye-election which is to be announced in due course.
Comrade Rajab Mohammed takes the oath which was administered by Barrister Abdulrahman Mohammed Karage, and in his acceptance speech promised to do all it takes together with his team of officers to reposition the council.
Mr. Rajab who appreciated the support from the esteemed members who found them worthy of serving them again said,within the period under review they have tried their best in advancing the course of their members in various ways; such as training and capacity building in and outside Yobe State.
“We’re doing this in batches and hope to ensure that everyone enjoys it.Training is paramount to media practitioners as it enables meeting up with the challenges of practice as well as ensuring professionalism.
“My address will not be complete without showing our appreciation to the Governor of Yobe State Mai Mala Buni for the continuous support he has been rendered to journalists Journalism and media organizations in the state,we remain grateful to him and his administration.
