Nurses up advocacy for efficient healthcare service delivery

Leaders in the Nursing profession have stepped up measures to improve healthcare service delivery in hospitals across the country.
They reechoed this advocacy yesterday, at a two-day maiden national seminar organised by Forum of Directors of Nursing Services in Nigeria.
According to them, nursing practitioners and other stakeholders in the health sector should endeavour to build pubic trust in their service delivery.
In his remarks, chairman of the occasion and mandate Secretary FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat, Dr. Abubakar Tafida emphasized the need for nurses to be concerned with improved medical services in their respective hospitals to portray the country’s image in good light.
He also pledged the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s commitment to keep addressing key areas that would strengthen the health sector.
“We are doing our best to improve service delivery in our hospitals by introducing the desired technology.
“FCT public hospitals will always leverage on technology to deliver acceptable medical services that the residents and visitors would be proud of”.
Also speaking, the Registrar, Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria, Dr Faruk Abubakar called on nurses in public and private hospitals to render services that will meet the acceptable standard.
Abubakar said the coming together of the directors of nurses from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would strengthen the health sector.
He noted that the forum will bring about coordination and efficiency in the nursing practice.
On her part, the Director FCT nursing services secretariat and the host, Grace Musa Leo, said despite the commitment of government to better nursing services, stated that more is needed.
“The government is doing its best but as nurses we cannot say is enough, nurses needed more”, she stressed .
