The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare with support from Nutrition International strategized to address challenges of nutrition commodities stock out in Jigawa state.
The efforts was announced by the Nutrition commodities and logistics system desk officer of FMOH, Mr Samari Godwin Bawa, during a two day training on Nutrition commodities logistics on boarding into the Nigerian health management information systems (NHLMIS) in Jigawa state.
He explained that, the idea is to on-board nutrition programs into the Nigerian health logistics management system, which is a national platform that already have about six to seven programs including Malaria, HIV, TB, MNCH among others.
“We are onboarding Nutrition so that federal, state and local government can have a visibility to shown commodities just like other public health programs that are already on boarded” Bawa said.
The desk officer maintained that, as about 2.5 million children are on danger of malnutrition annually, the training will build capacity of logistics managers especially those who are serving with Nutrition commodities to know how to utilize the Nigerian health logistics management system (NHLMIS) platform interms of accountability of nutrition commodities in the state.
