A roadblock by the personnel of the Nigerian Army yesterday along Nyanya has affected free vehicular and pedestrians movement along the axis.
The security check which was about 100 metres away from the Nyanya bus terminus, surfaced early morning yesterday close to the scene of the Monday bomb blast in Nyanya and affected a lot of people coming into the city centre.
The gridlock caused by the metal drum, used by the soldiers to block part of the road, also affected people coming from the Northern states.
The movements which use to take five to ten minutes yesterday took about five to six hours before people could pass through.
Speaking on the difficulties encountered on the road; Amaka Chukwuemeka, said she left her house as early as six o clock and could not get to work until after five hours.
“It was horrible. At first we thought something was wrong, not knowing it was the security personnel that blocked the road. The unfortunate thing is that they are not even checking anything. As we came to where they blocked, we discovered that they were just standing on the road and not doing anything.
Ahmed Umaru, said he had to trek from Mararaba to Nyanya because there was no car available for him. He said those who took bike had to pay as much as three to five hundred naira to get to where the soldiers mounted their road block before they could get a vehicle in to the town.
