‘Obanikoro will defeat APC, Jimi Agbaje in Lagos’

Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has been described as a candidate to beat in the forthcoming governorship election in Lagos State, hence, reason why the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and newly defected aspirant, Jimi Agbaje, are after him with deliberate campaign of calumny.

 This is the submission of a political affairs analyst, George Oladipo Philips, against the backdrop of a statement credited to Lagos APC spokesman, Joe Igbokwe on  describing “Senator Obanikoro’s candidature as dead on arrival, adding that after voting for a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Lagosians cannot stoop so low to vote for Obanikoro and that anything the PDP touches turns to ashes.”

Philips noted that it is clear that Senator Obanikoro is the APC’s biggest headache in the Lagos 2015 gubernatorial race; hence their constant attacks at him.

According to Philips, “Every time the Lagos APC resorts to its campaign of calumny against the PDP, Obanikoro becomes the target of their vituperations as if he is the only gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of PDP Lagos.

“This has only confirmed the open secret that the APC in connivance with Jimi Agbaje are playing out a script targeted at truncating the success of PDP in Lagos. Curiously, it is on record that not only does Jimi Agbaje fraternize with the APC, but has never criticized and has never found anything wrong with the APC government in Lagos state.

 “It is the same with the Lagos APC whenever they launch attacks at Lagos PDP. They pretend as if their man in the PDP does not exist.

“And while Igbokwe continues to bark like an over-excited attack dog, let him be told that his self-indulgent feeling of importance begins and ends in the doorsteps of his paymasters in Bourdillon. He is in no position to determine who Lagosians will vote as their governor in 2015. Lagosians know who to vote for and if indeed, the APC is confident of their performance in Lagos, Obanikoro and PDP Lagos should be the least of their concern”, it said.
