The Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki on Saturday gave a tacit support to the Presidential ambition of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo ahead of 2023 general elections.

But Osinbajo who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has not declared his intention to run for the position.

The Governor spoke through the deputy governor, Philip Shaibu on Saturday at the conferment of Chieftaincy title on Prince Clem Agba, the minister of State Budget and National Planning by the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Aliru Momoh, Ikelebe III in Etsako West Local Government Area of the State.

Obaseki who was re-elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP) stated that “The EndSARS was a clarion call to all of us. The era of godfathers are over. It is now the era of good leadership and progressive leadership. 

“We need men that have the knowledge and intellect to turned our State to an industrial State so that our young men and women who are unemployed will be employed.

“For us, we have turned Edo State to a place where private sector now drive our economy. Mr. Vice President sir, just know that you have Edo. You have us. In anything that you want to do, you have us and you have God…And by the grace of God, we will have our own as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria come 2023.

“Nigeria is also facing a lot of challenges. Hope, hope is what we can use to confront these challenges. 

“For us our dear President, we celebrate him. We also praise him for all that we have asked from him for the State, he has also granted us. 

“Sir, as a Government, our responsibility is to do what we need to do…provide the enabling environment for businesses to strive. 

“As we were just coming, our Vice President was full of compassion. He said to me, look at all these young men…That is the level that he thinks about us in this State.
