Businesswoman and Senior Special Assistant to the Anambra State Governor on Tax and Investment Mobilisation, Chief Mrs. Obiageli Okwubanego, has assumed office as the National General Secretary of the Iyaloja-General Movement for Renewed Hope Alliance (IGM).
Appointed on October 22, 2026, by the Iyaloja-General of Nigeria, Chief Dr. Mujidat Folasade Tinubu-Ojo, Okwubanego has promised an aggressive grassroots drive across Nigeria to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
Commending Chief Dr. Tinubu-Ojo for empowering women in political engagement, Okwubanego outlined plans to restructure the IGM secretariat, streamline internal communications, and unify state chapters alongside IGM National Director-General, Dr. Nasiru Ladan.
“An organized, properly coordinated structure is essential for meaningful grassroots participation,” Okwubanego noted, urging market women, traders, and community leaders to actively join the democratic process.
Known widely as Madam Obby, Okwubanego brings vast public-private sector experience to the role, having spearheaded key investment initiatives and international trade forums for Anambra State.
She promised that accountability and grassroots focus will drive her administration.
