The Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndigbo (Northern Zone), has called for collaborations among all Igbo speaking citizens residing in the 19 northern states and Abuja, so as to promote healthy social activities among them.
The organisation made the call in a communiqué issued after the inauguration of its northern states chapter, held in Madalla recently.
It quoted Chief Emmanuel Ezeugo, the President of the organisation in Niger State as saying that there is the urgent need for Igbos to unite under a stronger umbrella, for their collective interest in the region.
He called on its members to shun any activities that could affect peace and unity of the country, urging them to sensitise other members of the organisation on the need for active participation in politics and peace initiatives.
Ezeugo said that the organisation would reach out to the Igbos in any part of the country by establishing liaison offices in appropriate areas so that they could demand for their rights legitimately.
