Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa on Monday charged the elected local government chairmen to live within their council domain, warning that he will not tolerate any act of indolence that may be exhibited in office
Okowa who gave the charge while swearing-in the 25 newly elected council chairmen in Asaba, emphasized that as local government Chairmen, they owe it responsibilities as grassroot mobilizers for the well-being of the people in their areas.
He said, “I congratulate you for your resounding victory at the polls; this has demonstrated the supremacy of PDP in Delta.
“As you begin your tenure today hit the ground running, build on the foundation laid by your predecessors. Don’t abandon their projects.
“I will not tolerate a situation where Chairmen live outside their local government and go to work once in a while. The ideal of living outside your council areas, amount to a disservice to the government and the people.”
