The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, has expressed appreciation to the Bunu Progressive Forum for organising a grand homecoming reception in his honour in Kabba, Kogi State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Adeyemi described the April 3 event as a remarkable show of unity and support, noting that it also reflected a shared commitment to national development and public safety.
He commended the presence of several dignitaries at the ceremony, including the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was represented by his deputy, Joel Salifu Oyibo.
The Controller General also appreciated the Obaro of Kabba, Solomon Dele Owoniyi, for his royal blessings, as well as the National Deputy Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Durosinmi Meseko, and other prominent personalities who attended.
He further acknowledged the presence of traditional rulers across the state, including the Elulu of Mopa, Muyiwa Ibeun, and the Maigari of Lokoja, Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi, noting that their attendance added cultural significance and prestige to the occasion.
Adeyemi stated that the event also served as an opportunity to appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his appointment as Controller General, as well as the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his continued support to the Service.
Addressing public reactions to a recent video circulating online, the Federal Fire Service clarified concerns over what appeared to be a long convoy accompanying the Controller General.
According to the statement, Adeyemi travelled with only his official vehicle, a pilot vehicle, and necessary security support. It explained that other vehicles seen in the footage belonged to Deputy Controllers General, Assistant Controllers General, and other senior officers who attended the event as part of the Service’s management team.
The Service noted that their presence was intentional to ensure proper coordination and adequate security coverage at the high-profile gathering.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and professionalism, the Federal Fire Service assured Nigerians that all its operations and official movements are guided by necessity, safety considerations, and established best practices.
Adeyemi reiterated his gratitude to the Bunu Progressive Forum and the Kabba community for the warm reception and honour accorded him.
