In a bold move to reposition its operations, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran has marked a major institutional milestone by reintroducing the 25 Operational Committees, thereby restoring the system for the first time in five years.
As part of activities marking the development, the Secretary to the Commission, Muhammad Musa, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, convened a formal briefing for the newly appointed Committee Clerks on February 16.
Musa who spoke on behalf of the Executive Chairman, emphasised that the new assignment demands loyalty, dedication, discipline, and hard work, adding that regular performance assessments would be conducted to ensure strict accountability in the discharge of duties.
The Secretary reiterated the Executive Chairman’s zero-tolerance policy on corruption, slot-selling, and all forms of misconduct, even as she warned that such acts will not be condoned under any circumstance.
He further announced that a whistleblowing policy will soon be introduced, in collaboration with Commissioners, to identify and address corrupt practices within the system.
In his remarks, the Director of Human Resources, Sanni Ibrahim, clarified that the appointments are ad-hoc and advised the clerks to continue reporting to their parent departments while keeping their Directors informed of official assignments.
